John le Carré’s new novel, A Legacy of Spies, is now available. For the last fifty years he has lived by his pen. This book is very good read as a standalone; but really quite wonderful if read as a two-header with "The Spy Who Came in from the Cold". "[Le Carré's] novels are so brilliant because … In it also Le Carre portrayed an intelligence operation where there were no real heroes, and it had a tragic ending with the two main characters caught up in the ruthless machinations of their political masters.
